The air that surrounds the Earth.

The most abundant gas is nitrogen. It’s got 20 percent oxygen, and a very little amount of other gases like carbon dioxide.
What is the function of the atmosphere?
1.It protects the Earth from the Sun’s rays.
2. It contains oxygen for life.
3. It gives us weather.
What is weather?
Temperature:cold, hot, warm, etc..
Precipitation: rain, snow, sleet, hail
Sunshine: In the morning and evening it’s weak. At mid-day it’s strong.
Visibility: clear, misty, foggy
Wind Force: gentle, moderate, strong, gale etc…….
Clouds: Cirrus, Stratus, Cumulus
Wind Direction: North, South, East, West
RIVERS
Source: Where the river starts. It starts in the mountains, underground or in lakes.
Course: The route of the river.
Tributary: Small rivers that join a main river.
Mouth: Where the river ends in the sea, another river or a lake.
Coasts
Beach: flat land near the sea.
Cliff: high rocky land near the sea.
Island: A piece of land surrounded by water on 4 sides
Peninsula:A piece of land surrounded by water on 3 sides.
Gulf: The water near the beach
Archipelago: A group of islands.
Cape: A piece of land that extends out into the water.
